One place to look is windows updates.
Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Confirm if whatsoever updates were installed on that appointment.
On the WIndows update folio click on Advanced Options and then Choose how updates are delivered.
On the "Chose how updates are delivered" page if the first option is turned on, the MS is using your computer as a "mule" to deliver updates to other people. That would account for network use.
Also bank check in the Recycle bin, if someone was using your system and they were sloppy, there could be deleted files there ("sloppy" because in that location is an option to delete files without putting them in the recycle bin).

If install the TCPIPView utility, volition I be able to view what was downloaded on 11/sixteen/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used 15 GB, yet, I cannot find it. I do know that it occurred on 11/16/2017 between 5:xxx PM and 6:30 PM.
Is the TCPIPView utility rubber to download?

I went to the Windows Update History, at that place were no updates for 11/16/2017.
I do non see the "Advanced Options" on the Windows Update History page. Is there another method to get to the Advanced Options?
Is there a method to view what was downloaded on 11/xvi/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used fifteen GB, withal, I cannot observe it. I practise know that it occurred on eleven/xvi/2017 between 5:xxx PM and 6:30 PM.

Hullo, Paul, TCPIPView is prophylactic, I would not put you wrong . . .
Actually TCPIPView is more for monitoring your network activity should this sort of thing happen again . . .
As for what was downloaded on eleven/16/2017 betwixt 5:xxx PM and 6:30 PM
There are 2 possible ways to find that out:
1.
Open up Windows File Explorer and double click on your C Bulldoze in 'This PC'
Click in the Search Box
The Search Ribbon should become active
Click Date Modified drop down and choose Today
Then click the blue text in the search box, a calendar volition appear
Select the 16th and give it time to search - it tin be a while
In the resulting search, y'all should be able to encounter what downloaded . . .
2.
Click your Commencement Push button, type Result Viewer and hit Enter
This will open the Event Viewer app
On the left, click the arrow beside Windows logs to expand it
For each log, click it and scroll down through the events to find that appointment and time
This might requite you lot some clue equally to what happened at that fourth dimension and what was downloaded . . .

I will try both methods and go back to yous with my results. I will likewise try the TCPIPView utility. Is the utility TCPView or TCPIPView? Distressing for all the questions, I run into TCPView has great reviews.
I cannot express my business organization, as I had my identity stolen 4 times and acquired enormous problems.

Sorry, misdirected you. the Advanced Options is on the "Update Status" page
Sorry, I do not know of whatsoever way of identifying what was up or downloaded during a specific time. There are many utilities that can monitor you internet use. The problem is that almost of them focus on total volume and speed. Very few provide any ID for the file or plan that is doing the up/down loading.
http://www.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx#CheckHist... is one exception I found in a QUICK search. It at least identifies the plan doing the traffic.
Y'all volition have to exercise your own search to find a ameliorate suited application to identify FUTURE traffic.

Hello Dave,
I used the outcome viewer to view my PC activity for xi/16/2017 between v:00 PM and 6:thirty PM. I run across several warning letters and mistake letters. It appears something was trying to download and install some apps or security files, I'm non sure.
Could I email you a couple of screen shots of the event viewer and get your feedback? I actually do not empathise what was occurring on xi/16/2017, merely it did last for near 2 hours and looks a chip suspicious to me. I practice not meet a way to attach screen shots on this community web site, perhaps I can reply back with the text?

Tin you practice i thing for me:
Click your Offset Push button, type winver and hit Enter
In the resulting dialog, take a annotation of what version No. of Windows 10 you are running (1709, 1703, 1607 . . . etc.)
Due to the amount of information that has been downloaded, I am gauge it was the Fall Creators Update that was downloading. If you are not running 1709, and so that is the almost probable scenario . . .
